The Coastal town and major Spanish port of Cádiz is the oldest inhabited town in Western Europe, and a stones-throw from Sevilla. With it's rich History and beautiful beaches there's no wonder why so many Andalusians escape to this haven. Despite its unique site - on a narrow peninusala - this city is typically Adalusian with a wealth of attractive winding streets and plazas. The old town, within the boundaries of the city walls is a great place to immerse yourself in the local culture, whereas the more modern section hosts the long stretch of beach and wide avenues.
Every year in February, Cadiz plays host to its most famous production - The Carnival of Cádiz
The Carnival of Cádiz is one of the best known carnivals in the world. Throughout the year, carnival-related activities are almost constant in the city; there are always rehearsals, public demonstrations, and contests of various kinds. These diverse spectacles turn the city into a colorful and popular open-air theater for two entire weeks in February, and each year the chirigotas and other performers compete for prizes.
One of the capital cities of Flamenco, famous for fried fish, baby prawns and red tuna.
