Casa Batlló is a building that represents the work of the architect Antoni Gaudí. It is located at number 43 Paseo de Gracia, a street that formerly linked the city with the Villa de Gracia, today fully integrated as a neighbourhood of the city.
Casa Batlló ceased to belong to the Batlló family in the 1950s. After housing various companies and private individuals, the building has been in the hands of the current owners, the Bernat family, since the 1990s, who completely restored the house.
In 1995 the family opened the house and presented this architectural jewel to the world, offering the space for events. Since 2002, coinciding with the International Gaudí Year, Casa Batlló has also hosted cultural visits.
In 1969 it was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument and since 2005 it has been considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
An obligatory stop to get to know the work of the greatest representative of Catalan modernism.
